I am so excited to share with everyone the details of my new apartment. I have been planning and buying decorations for my new place over the past year. With the help of a new job as an ophthalmic technician for an optometrist, I finally was able to afford an apartment, and on September 29, I got the keys.
I will start my home tour in the kitchen and dining room. You should know that my favorite colors are black and white. So it is only fitting that they were the main colors in my apartment decor. Back in May, my parents threw me a graduation party and thanks to my wonderful friends, I received some great pieces to add to my apartment. My favorite designer is Kate Spade New York. Many of the decorations in my apartment are from her home collection. I found this beautiful flower painting at Hobby Lobby. It was the perfect addition to my dining room (sadly, it is no longer available).
Next, we will go to the living room. Thankfully, my mom decided she wanted a new couch for her living room, so I got the old couch which was the perfect pop of color for my apartment. Since I am no longer a college student, I had no use for my desk(which is a family heirloom, that has been passed down through the women in my family). I turned it into a console table for my TV. I bought some cute storage boxes from Target to store my movies and a metal basket from Kirkland’s to store my blankets. I got my curtains from Hobby Lobby along with my deer head (which is made out of paper-mâché and then spray painted silver) arrows (I spray painted them black), wooden wall art, and my pillows. I found my rug at Target and the lamp on the table next to the couch as well.
Now, onto my bathroom ~ I got my shower curtain, lamp, and clock from Target. I’ve had the photos in the frames for a while which I ordered from Etsy. They were reasonably priced and I got to decide which size I wanted. The personalized towels were a graduation gift and they are seriously one of my favorite pieces of my apartment. I got the shower curtain hooks from Bed, Bath, & Beyond and of course, they are from Kate Spade New York’s bathroom line.
Finally, my bedroom ~ my bed frame is another family heirloom that has been passed down through the women in my family. I got the curtains from none other than Target. I also got the faux fur throw pillow, my orchid color sheets, and the white duvet cover from there also. I purchased the silver sequin throw pillows from Hobby Lobby. I found the gray shams at Bed, Bath, & Beyond (I link some that are similar).I made my monogram from some paper-mâché letters, black spray paint, and black glitter. My bedroom would not be complete without a collection of my favorite fashion magazines~InStyle and Vogue.
I absolutely love my new place but to be honest, I kind of miss being in school and not having bills to pay, or a full-time job. I also really miss my dog, like an unhealthy kind of miss, but at least she is not far away. I really am “Home Sweet Home.”
